Chicago trio facing charges after stolen vehicle crash in Ottawa

 
OTTAWA – Three individuals from Chicago are facing charges after a crash of a reportedly stolen vehicle in downtown Ottawa. Around noon Thursday the Ottawa Police Department allegedly attempted to stop a vehicle when the suspects reportedly fled, crashing near LaSalle Street and Washington Street. According to authorities, two of the subjects were said to have ran from the crash on foot. Three people were eventually taken into custody, all facing a number of charges. Arrested were 25-year-old Kemar Matthews-Hill, 24-year-old Shimund R. Jones and a 17-year-old female. Matthews-Hill was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle and other traffic related citations. Jones was charged with resisting a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance and trespass to a motor vehicle. The 17-year-old female was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle. All three have posted bond and were released.
