PERU – The Peru Fire Department were called to the scene of a rollover crash on Water Street Tuesday. Around 1:30 PM authorities arrived at the intersection of Pike and Water where a sedan was on its roof over the railroad tracks just feet from tumbling into the Illinois River. According to Peru Fire Chief Jeff King, had that occurred it would have been hard to recover the vehicle. The driver was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but no serious injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
