MENDOTA – A rural Mendota home was severely damaged after a Monday night house fire that may have started around the kitchen. Around 10 PM Mendota and Troy Grove Fire were called to the scene in the 3900 block of East 3rd Road for a fire that the occupants said they had escaped from. According to Mendota Fire Chief Dennis Rutishauser a Mutual Aid request went out with multiple area departments arriving to provide support and water to battle the blaze in the one story home. Two were transported to the hospital but were treated and released and the cause of the fire is under investigation with the state fire Marshall’s office and the Mendota Fire Department.
Assisting in the 4th Box Mabas Alarm was Peru, LaSalle, Earlville, Sublette, LaMoille, Ladd, Cherry, Utica, Oglesby Ambulance, Compton, Peru Ambulance, LaSalle County Sheriff’s Dept, Mendota Police, Illinois State Police and the State Fire Marshall’s Office. Wind gusts of 30 mph with a -3 windchill. The Red Cross was notified to assist the three residents.
