OTTAWA – Prosecution rested their case against a former Ottawa fireman accused of drowning his wife. The LaSalle County State’s Attorneys claim 52-year-old Kenneth Cusick is guilty of first degree murder for allegedly drowning his wife Tracy, in a toilet in 2006. On Monday, jurors heard the last of the prosecution’s witnesses, and that included friends of Tracy. Both claim to have sighted a dumpster at the Cusick residence shortly after Tracy’s death, and one of the witnesses say a broken toilet was inside. Defense attorney’s try to lead both witnesses to concede to not notifying the authorities of anything they felt was suspicious. One witness, a close friend to Tracy, claims she attempted to contact authorities on different occasions about the dumpster and toilet finding. However defense said that she didn’t mention anything in two different police interviews in 2006, and only spoke out to State’s Attorneys last month. Witnesses for defense attorneys will begin Tuesday at the LaSalle County Courthouse.
