Heat Warnings Cover Midwest

CHICAGO – Excessive heat warnings were announced yesterday by the National Weather Service that run through Saturday and cover most of the Midwest from central Nebraska and Missouri into western Ohio and parts of West Virginia. Public housing officials in Chicago were planning well being checks on residents as the heat and humidity are expected to mount to dangerous levels as part of a wave of sweltering weather covering a substantial portion of the U.S. Many area communities have opened public buildings to act as cooling centers. Helpful advice for today and tomorrow would be to avoid outdoor activity and drink plenty of water.
