OGLESBY – There will be a new coach at Illinois Valley Community College for their women’s basketball program. Josh Nauman has been hired as Illinois Valley Community College’s women’s basketball coach. Tom Ptak, who led the program for six years, stepped down following the 2018-19 season.
Nauman of Granville was IVCC men’s assistant the past two seasons and prior to that was head boys coach at Putnam County High School.
“Josh had tremendous success as a head coach,” said IVCC Athletic Director Cory Tomasson. “I expect his knowledge of the game and his passion for coaching will truly benefit IVCC.
“As the men’s assistant he learned about our athletic department’s policies and procedures and the nature of college athletics. He is very familiar with our district and has built strong relationships with area coaches.”
Nauman is founder of the Illinois Valley All-Star Game at IVCC, which allows area high school seniors an opportunity to play a final game with other local players.
“The event has been a huge success and should serve as a recruiting tool for him going forward,” said Tomasson.
