PERU – Six brothers from one family who served in World War II will be honored with a sign and a stretch of road named for them in Peru. Tuesday State Senator Sue Rezin, along with Peru Mayor Scott Harl and Spring Valley Mayor Walt Marini presented Alex Kaszynski Jr with a copy of the Illinois Senate Resolution and showed one of the signs that will be installed. A stretch of US Route Six from Mary Street in Spring Valley to Harrison Street in Peru will be called “Kaszynski Brothers Memorial Highway”.

Five of the brothers served in the U.S. Army during World War II: Bernard, Florian, Thaddeus, Alex Jr., and Richard. Their other brother, Chester, served with the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II and with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
