LASALLE – While the Illinois Bicentennial Passport Program may be over, passports are still being handed in to the I & M Canal Corridor Association for prizes. According to Program Coordinator Mara Moore, over 50 passports have been received from the program to win prizes for the number of sites ventured. Some prizes include pins, stickers and boat rides depending on the number of sites visited. The program was established to celebrate 56 historical places in Illinois, with 11 sites in LaSalle County, including the Illinois and Michigan Canal. President Ana Koval says because of the overwhelming amount of support received, the Association plans on coordinating another program, possibly for the I & M Canal’s 35th Anniversary next year in August.
