MENDOTA – The Mendota Police Department reportedly discovered drugs on a person they spoke with who was on a bicycle Thursday. In a release by the department, they say with information provided by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team, that they had reason to believe 35-year old Ryan P. McCarthy of Mendota may be in possession of heroin. McCarthy consented to a search of his person and 13 tins of purported heroin was discovered along with one gram of pure alleged heroin. He was taken to the LaSalle County Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. His bond is yet to be set.
