OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Board passed a resolution Thursday to recognize the epidemic of drug overdoses. Recommended by the Public Safety Committee, Drug Overdose Awareness Week will serve as a memorial week for those who have lost loved ones or live with permanent injuries resulting from an overdose. LaSalle County recognizes drug overdoses as an epidemic affecting thousands in the State of Illinois. LaSalle County initiated a naloxone program that assisted in saving over 20 lives last year and 35 lives so far this year. Drug Overdose awareness week will begin August 24th.
