Streator High School votes to leave Interstate Eight conference

STREATOR — Streator High School will be in a new conference come the 2019-2020 school year following a decision at Tuesday’s board meeting. Principal Amy Jo Mascal recommended to the board for withdrawal from the Interstate Eight conference, which the board unanimously voted for by a 7-0 mark. Streator will stay with the I-8 for the rest of this year and the entirety of the next school year. The decision follows seven other schools that have opted to leave the conference including Wilmington, Coal City, Manteno, Reed-Custer, Herscher, Peotone, and Lisle. Mascal says taking this step gives the school more “flexibility to explore options moving forward.”
